Using ASA to Prevent Heart Attacks
The Bottom Line
Three recent studies confirm the benefit of low dose aspirin in preventing heart attacks. To minimize risks every man over age of 45 with at least one cardiovascular risk factor should take a low dose ASA daily (North America 81mg, Europe 100mg).
Women over the age of 65 should also take low dose ASA. Both men and women should stop taking ASA at age 80.
Individuals taking the ASA regularly should have their blood pressure in the normal range of less than 140/90.
